James Twyman Interview Part 1 – day 31 of 40 Irish Inner Peace Pilgrimage

When we reach an impasse in our lives and it seems there’s no way forward what can we do? You see the way we’ve solved challenges in our lives up to this point may not work anymore. We can keep on trying to solve them the same old way but we may end up getting nowhere and very frustrated. As Albert Einstein once said “the consciousness that created the problem is not the same level of consciousness required to solve the problem“.

In this video interview Sean M Kelly asks James Twyman about a way forward in such life circumstances. Note James and Anakha Coman are starting a global “Oneness” experiment, connecting people from all around the world for peace on 7 November 2009. Join in, see www.jamestwyman.com for more details.

Peace within

Peace Within

Peace Within by Sean M Kelly

When all around you is falling down
To remember their dead
they stain blood on the ground
there’s hate in their eyes
You’ve got to realise
there’s a part of you that needs
to find love too …

When children are used
in a game of hate
sowing seeds
for more violence to create
A father holds his child
in his arms so tight
as the rain from hell falls
from vengeful birds in flight

Peace within me
Peace within you
Let the light of your peace shine through

When toys turn to bombs
which kill and mame
And all you see is difference
And never the same
A child cries loud over his fathers grave
And wonders why he had to be so brave?
Hear it, feel it, deep inside
Your heartfelt wisdom and
let it be your guide.

Peace within me
Peace within you
Let the light of your peace shine through

When all around you are ready to blame
never knowing that they fan the flame
Be not vengeful, be not cruel
History tells us it’s the way of a fool
Seek out peace deep inside
Feel the Love and
let it be your guide

Peace within me
Peace within you
Let the light of your peace shine through

How to see your True Self – Day 13 of 40 Irish Inner Peace Pilgrimage

Posted by inspire | Posted in Be Inspired, Dare to Dream, Music for the Soul, Online Courses, Spiritual | Posted on 05-10-2009

“Freedom is not given to us by anyone; we have to cultivate it ourselves” – Thich Nhat Hanh

Take a slow deep breath. As you exhale release any tension you had or any worries you had. Decide that no matter what’s happening in your life right now that the next few minutes you will experience bliss and feelings of absolute joy!

Imagine meeting a total stranger in a strange but wonderful place perhaps a beautiful old Victorian garden. A garden full of wonder and magic. A heavenly garden so to speak.

This stranger has only one mission and that is to help you realise your true self. You know the one. The one who knows how great you really are. It knows all your gifts. It knows all your fears. It knows all your passions. It knows all your doubts. It can even see beyond all of these to a place deep within you where there is perfect peace, where anything is possible.

Some of your thoughts try to pull you away, telling you things like “but there’s so much not working in your life! You’ve never been that good anyway …” But the power of this strangers light is far stronger than any illusionary thoughts of unworthiness or failure.

Imagine that when you’re in the presence of this stranger you feel the most wonderful feelings of love. They keep whispering in your ear “love, peace, joy, happiness …” Imagine hearing their soft words whispering to you. Imagine feelings of love, peace, joy and happiness growing like a bright light within you as these words resonate throughout your body.

Imagine as you look at this stranger you see a light within them that’s so bright and expansive you feel you’re in the presence of a divine being. Almost as if you’ve entered some other heavenly world. As if you were held in the arms of an angel.

Take another long slow deep breath and imagine that this stranger is … You looking at the True You.

Why should you be still and meditate? Day 12 Irish Inner Peace Pilgrimage

Posted by inspire | Posted in Be Inspired, Celebrate Peace, Dare to Dream, Music for the Soul, Online Courses, Spiritual, World Peace | Posted on 02-10-2009

One of the best times to be still and meditate is early in the day and early evening. What will it do for you? Here’s a list of some of the benefits for meditating and being still:

Benefits for Your Body

1. It gives your body time to digest food – sometimes we are so busy our body doesn’t have much energy left for digestion. If we meditate our energy is freeed up to allow our body to digest food comfortably.

2. It also frees up energy to allow for healing. When we get sick we should rest as everyone knows. If we meditate daily we’re giving our body little rests, time to heal and clear tension from the body and keep our immune system strong.

3. You will have a lot more energy for every day tasks. As your body relaxes and releases tension it frees up more energy so you can have a lot more vitality.

Benefits for the Mind

1. Like the body a stressful mind uses up a lot of energy. Relaxing your mind releases mental tension and gives you more energy for what’s really important in your life

2. You respond a lot more appropriately to lifes ups and downs. If our mind is racing we often make the wrong decisions as they often are reflex decisions. We later suffer the consequences of these decisions. By taking time to meditate we can “tune in” to what’s the best decision and we can often see clearer the possible consequences of different choices.

3. Our concentration and focus greatly improves – if we sit to meditate we are exercising our mind to have a one pointed focus so obviously our concentration will improve. As indeed will our patience.

Benefits for the Spirit

1. Number one we will connect with the Spiritual side of ourselves and hear its wisdom

2. We align our life with our true inner self and it’s needs rather than egotistical needs

3. We realise that we are far more capable than we thought. As the Course in Miracles says “there is a place within you where there is perfect peace, there is a place within you where anything is possible!”

There are of course many more benefits. As you practice being still and meditating you will realise them for yourself. However if you need more encouragement have a look at the following video:

Learn to Be Still – Day 10 Irish Inner Peace Pilgrimage

“Let us be silent that we may hear the whispers of God” – R. W. Emerson

The next three lessons all deal with choosing to take time in your day to be still and it’s best if you read and watch them at a time and place where you’ll be undisturbed.

Here’s a simple way to be still by meditating on your breathing:

1. Sit in a comfortable position

2. Bring your awareness to your breathing

3. Keep your awareness on your breathing for at least 3 minutes
(ideally work up to 15 minutes but it’s better to turn it into a daily habit by doing it for short periods and then extending the period once you’ve established the habit)

If your attention drifts onto other thoughts gently bring it back to your breathing. In time your mind will quiet and you will enter a beautiful space of stillness. Sit without any expectation or desire for results. Please also note if your mind is restless that’s perfectly normal particularly if you live a busy life.

Make a commitment to yourself to do this every day for 10 days. It’s best done in the morning time when you first get up. It enables you to tune into the day in a nice gentle way.

Sometimes we look for the most complicated esoteric way of meditating. This can often be a way of distracting ourselves from meditating at all. In my experience and after teaching meditation and relaxation to many people the greatest challenge people have is not how to meditate but choosing to take the time to meditate in any form! So keep it simple and keep it short. Goal number one is to  create a daily meditation habit.

And here’s a video which will also help. Remember day 11 and day 12 of the inner peace pilgrimage will also help you in this area.
